The Stoneham Writers Group is a well - established group, founded in the summer of 1990 by Sheila Foley and Julianne Toomey - Kautz. The six core members joined within a few years of its inception. There are now five original members who remain active. And since Eileen Herbert Hugo rejoined the group, we now have six members. You can view us on our individual Bio pages where you'll find links to our work; i.e., stories and poetry or artwork. You might also see photos of us over the years with former members.
Note: For years we met at the Stoneham Public Library once a month. Unfortunately, since the pandemic, we now meet only virtually. Although the pandemic is over, we have decided to stay with Zoom meetings for other reasons. See the home page for updates should things change.

Over the years we have learned a lot from each other and from writers who came and went, some for a short time, others for years. It is difficult to maintain a group for so long, but one thing we have all learned is, writing is a matter of discipline and diligence. It's also about finding the right fit with a group. There is a reason why the SWG works so well together. We are like a well-oiled machine, (pardon the cliché) and it's rare to find such a working group that speaks to a writer's heart for so many years.

About Us: We are a diverse group, writing in different genres. We are all published and some of us are also artists, musicians, photographers, and performing artists. On this site we try to mix things up by using graphics, artwork, and photos to accompany selected poems or stories.
Since we have been meeting virtually we find no need for the FAQs page. However, we left our Mission Statement Page up for anyone who wishes to inquire about the group and perhaps attend a meeting via Zoom. Should things change we will post it on this site. Any changes will be added to the home page where everyone will see them.
