My name is Eileen Hugo: I am a poet. I am retired and doing all the things I love.
The Austin International Poetry Festival was one of my favorite places to listen to and read poetry. Four of my poems have been chosen for the Di-verse-city Anthology. I also won the first prize for The Competition in the David Osgood Poetry Contest.
I have been published in the following anthologies: The Stoneham Writers Group, Heels and Souls, Southern Breezes and The Baby Boomer Birthright, published by Poet Works Press, and most recently The Taste Of Ink a collaboration of poets from Mid-Coast Maine. I also served time as a Poetry Editor for The Houston Literary Review.
In April of 2015, my book Not Too Far was published. In 2018 my poem Grandfather’s Passing won Honorable Mention at the Austin International Poetry Festival.

NOTE: The above link for the Poetry & Stories page is not yet available for Eileen's work. Instead the link goes to the Summer Update 2022 page. We hope Elieen will share her thoughts soon on her own page.

NOT TOO FAR

Not Too Far is a book of poetry of place, relationship, observation, history and personal moments caught on the poet’s pen. Playful and serious, unforgiving and compassionate, Eileen offers an original take on subjects both familiar and mysterious.
